YEAR OF THE HUMMINGBIRD
About The Poet
Cross-legged on the blue, nail-polish-stained carpet of my childhood bedroom, I’ve been writing for as long as I can remember—etching notebooks with what were intended to be song lyrics for an eventual pop-star career.

While I hate to spoil the ending, the pop-star career never quite worked out. Those song lyrics were simply my first attempts at translating feelings into language.

I’ve since turned to poetry and am currently writing my debut collection, Year of the Hummingbird.

I’m inspired by Andrea Gibson, Marie Howe, Ada Limón, Mary Oliver, my late poetry professor turned friend Courtney Kampa, and all of my other friends who are much better writers than I am. In truth, I’m just trying to keep up with them.

The beauty of writing and sharing it with others is finding familiarity in what feels so achingly singular to you. I hope you find something here that resonates.
